Five Ways to Make Creative Writing Happen

One thing about it, writers have to write. We have to write it right. It’s in us. If we don’t write, our head might explode with all those stories locked up inside. Whew, what a collective mess that would be . . . and what a sad day for the world in wasted talent.

Below are five ways to help make creative writing happen for you.

1. Observe Life — Live out loud . . . And take notes. Be a people watcher — listen to dialog. Writing is a solitary act, life happens, be a part of it. Then, write about it.

2. Journal— regularly — about any and everything. Never leave home without a writing journal. Inspiration can hit you when you least expect it . . . be ready for it.

3. Record your dreams — as soon as you wake up. It’s fresh in your mind. Jot down all the details, in detail. Keep a dream journal by your bed.

4. Polish your skills — study to show yourself approved. Let your imagination run wild as you develop your grammatical skills. Take a course. Study online. Do whatever it takes to learn the craft.

5. Read, Read, Read — For pleasure, to see how the best of the best does it, to keep your finger on the pulse of the book industry. Read. And Write. Write, write, write. And don’t stop. Ever. Never, never, never give up ~ Winston Churchill

Write creatively. Think outside the box. In fact, Smash the box ... then you will be forced to think outside of it. Oh yeah, smash it! Smash that box! And don’t build another one and don’t let anyone put you into one.

As for me, I’m going to keep on doing the write thing children. What about you?

See you on the creative side of life,

Guyanne
